❗COVID-19 – Booking during
(updated Nov 2020)
Jings! Whit a year 2020 has been!
We are gutted* (see translations below) that because of COVID-19, we were only able to welcome a few guests in 2020. Not only that, but the weather was braw* while Kilbride Cottage was closed in line with Scottish Government legislation to STAY AT HOME – PROTECT NHS SCOTLAND – SAVE LIVES.
As we approach winter, infection rates are sadly on the rise again across the world.
From 2 Nov, the Scottish Government introduced 5 tiers of restrictions (0-4) which will be reviewed regularly.
Fife is currently at level 3
⯈ No non-essential travel to/from level 3 areas or higher -Tourists should not travel into, or out of a Level 3 for holidays or visits. Travel into Scotland from other areas of the UK is also not allowed. This means only visitors from Fife can use holiday accommodation in Fife.
⯈ No in-home socialising – You cannot meet others in your home or in their home. This means only one household can occupy self-catering accommodation.
⯈ No more than 6 people from 2 households can meet in outdoor places (like gardens) or regulated public places (like cafe’s, restaurants and pubs). Weddings/funerals limited to 20 people.
We were Good to Go!………
Given the rise in infections rates and restrictions, we have reluctantly decided to close for the remainder of 2020, and are considering when we will re-open.
We will continue to follow all Scottish Government cleaning protocols and leave gaps between guest stays for the foreseeable future. There are more details in our blog post We’re good to go.
Don’t hesitate to ask if you’ve any queries at all about any of the steps we are taking to keep everyone as safe as possible. Or have a look at our reviews to see what some of our first guests after lockdown have said about their stay.
Book with confidence
And don’t worry – once we do open up again, if you book a stay and then can’t travel because of COVID-19 government restrictions, we’ll transfer your booking to a future available date or give you a refund.
(You can have a look at our full terms and conditions here, or on our bookdirect page – our “COVID terms” currently apply for all bookings
Please note: many international visitors to the UK must quarantine for 14 days on entering the UK. The exemption list can change at short notice so we would unfortunately advise against international travel at the moment due to the current uncertainty.
Go on…have a dauner roon….
So, until you visit in person…. why not take a virtual dauner* round the cottage on our website? And have a look at the many great things to see and do in the area.
We had posted the #loveFifelater video during lockdown.
Now we are happy to share the #loveFifeagain video
– an even better way to start planning for future trips
❤ Haste ye back! ❤
gutted – sad, really disappointed, miserable(not to be confused with “gutties” – well worn, comfortable training shoes)
braw – great, exceptionally nice, brilliant
dauner – wander, stroll
haste ye back – haste=hurry, ye=you. Hurry back to Scotland, come back soon
