❗COVID-19 – Booking during
Coronavirus pandemic❗
(updated 25 Sept 2020)

We are gutted* (see translations below) that because of COVID-19, we weren’t able to welcome visitors earlier this year. Not only that, but the weather was braw* while Kilbride Cottage was closed in line with Scottish Government legislation to STAY AT HOME – PROTECT NHS SCOTLAND – SAVE LIVES.

At the moment we are still in Phase 3 of the Scottish lockdown exit plan.
Travel restrictions in Scotland eased on 3rd July, and self catering accommodation was able to re-open.

Current restrictions

As we approach winter, infection rates are sadly on the rise again across the world.
In response, the Scottish Government reluctantly had to place further restrictions on “indoor gatherings” to control the spread of COVID-19. This means in Scotland, from 23rd Sept, you cannot visit others in their homes, or host people in your own home. As a result only people from 1 household can stay in self catering accommodation.

The restrictions put in place from 10 Sept still apply in other settings –
No more than 6 people from 2 households can meet in outdoor places (like gardens) or regulated public places (like cafe’s, restaurants and pubs).

There are currently no travel restrictions and you can leave home for any purpose.

These measures are in place for 6 months and will be reviewed every 3 weeks.
You can read about meeting up with others here and more about the general Scottish Government guidance and advice here.

We are Good to Go!

We are therefore pleased to say we remain, somewhat cautiously, open for 2020/2021 bookings.

We are following all Scottish Government cleaning protocols and are leaving gaps between guest stays for the foreseeable future. There are more details in our recent blog post We’re good to go.
Don’t hesitate to ask if you’ve any queries at all about any of the steps we are taking to keep everyone as safe as possible. Or have a look at our reviews to see what some of our first guests after lockdown have said about their stay.

Book with confidence for 2020/2021

2020 – please still contact us BEFORE making a 2020 booking, just in case there are any changes to government guidance or local restrictions. (which can happen very quickly!)
2021 – we are open for bookings in 2021.

And don’t worry – if you book a stay for either year, and then can’t travel because of COVID-19 government restrictions, we’ll transfer your booking to a future available date or give you a refund.
(You can have a look at our full terms and conditions here, or on our bookdirect page)

Please note: many international visitors to the UK must quarantine for 14 days on entering the UK. The exemption list can change at short notice so we would unfortunately advise against international travel at the moment due to the current uncertainty.

Go on…have a dauner roon….

So, until you visit in person…. why not take a virtual dauner* round the cottage on our website? And have a look at the many great things to see and do in the area.

We had posted the #loveFifelater video during lockdown.

Now we are happy to share the #loveFifeagain video
